Ahrenshagen village church
The village church Ahren Hagen is a native of the 13th century village church in the district Ahrenshagen the Vorpommern community Ahrens-Daskow .
history
The church was built in the second half of the 13th century. Ahrenshagen was an important market town at that time. The current nave was added in the 14th century, the church tower in the 15th century; it is only ten meters high and therefore much smaller than originally. The brick structure was probably put on during a renovation in 1752.
The choir vault is unusually heavy with a stone thickness of around 20 cm and has repeatedly required major repairs, for example in 1752, 1825 and 1978.
Exterior
The church tower has a huge basement made of field stone . The lowest part of the building is the first built choir . On its gable side there is a large ogival window, which, however, was only added in its present form in 1845. The windows of the nave are also made with pointed arches.
The vault of the choir has been supported by an additional pillar attached to the outside since 1752.
Furnishing
The church has significant paintings in the choir vault from the 14th century, which were rediscovered in 1967 and uncovered in 1968. The paintings were probably made around 1340 by a workshop that also painted a crucifixion group in the Nikolaikirche in Stralsund .
The visible, original brick edge on the choir arch is architecturally significant. Also in the choir is a patronage stalls renovated in 2004 with the coat of arms of the Plüskow and Göden families . There is a large crucifix on the choir wall . Parts of the body date from the 13th century, the arms were added in 1846.
The ship has a beamed ceiling. A wooden baptism stands between the altar and the stalls. This was deleted in 1845. It has been in the ship in its current layout since 1964.
A wooden figure probably shows the apostle Paul. It was salvaged from the Pantlitz village church around 1900 . The baroque pulpit altar dates from 1745.
organ
The one-manual organ was made by Johann Friedrich Schulze ; the year is unknown. She came to Ahrenshagen from the church in Greifenhagen in 1846 . A second manual, which was installed by Barnim Grüneberg in 1904 , was later removed.
At the end of 2002 the organ was successfully restored by the Saalfeld organ building company Rösel & Hercher Orgelbau . It is arranged as follows :
