Lüssow is a municipality southwest of Stralsund in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen . The municipality is administered by the office of Niepars with its seat in the municipality of Niepars .

Geography and traffic

Lüssow is a municipality divided into two by the urban area Stralsund with Klein Kordshagen in the north and Lüssow and Langendorf in the south. The city of Stralsund is located about two kilometers southwest of the municipality. The B 105 and the Stralsund – Rostock railway run through the Langendorf district . Lüssow itself is on the B 194 . Klein Kordshagen is connected to the road network via a subordinate spur road. In the southern municipality there are two larger lakes, the Borgwallsee and the Pütter See .

The districts of the community are Klein Kordshagen, Langendorf and Lüssow.

history

Lüssow was first mentioned in a document in 1270. 1302 it is from the Rügan prince Wizlaw III. Sold to the city of Stralsund and remained in municipal ownership.
The community was part of the Franzburg-Barth district until 1952 and then belonged to the Stralsund district in the Rostock district until 1994 .

Klein Kordshagen was owned by the monastery until the Reformation .

Langendorf belonged to Stralsund from 1314. Gut Langendorf belonged to the von Rethen and von Jamel families in the 13th century. In 1279 Lowe Valke acquired parts of the area and in 1696 the estate was divided between five owners until it fell to Stralsund, which leased it.

Coat of arms, flag, official seal

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag . The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the region of Western Pomerania . It shows an upright griffin with a raised tail and the inscription "GEMEINDE LÜSSOW * LANDKREIS VORPOMMERN-RÜGEN".
