Districts
history
Wendorf was first mentioned in a document in 1285. The village was affected several times during wars due to its proximity to the city of Stralsund. After the siege of Wallenstein in the Thirty Years' War , the siege by the Great Elector Friedrich Wilhelm of Brandenburg in the Swedish-Brandenburg War and the Northern War , the places lay desolate for years. From 1648 the places Voigdehagen, Zitterhagen (now: Zitterpenningshagen), Wendorf and Arendsee were rebuilt.
Prince Wizlaw III . confirmed on May 10, 1321 the city of Stralsund its privileges and property in the villages of Devin , Teschenhagen , Zitterpenningshagen , Voigdehagen , Wendorf, Lüdershagen , Vogelsang, Lüssow , Langendorf and Kedingshagen. The privileges are the same as in previous confirmations. On March 24, 1340 the knights Johann and Borante from Putbus , Theze and Stoyslaus , brothers of the named, left the village of Wendorf and the village of Horst iusla ecclesiam in Boranteshagen situatam , with high and low jurisdiction and all accessories, except that , to the council of Stralsund Patronage of the named church.
In 1790 a path across the heather from Wendorf and Voigdehagen was laid by the captain from Born zu Zarrendorf for his peat loads. Between 1817 and 1829 the Grimmer Landstrasse from Voigdehagen to Wendorf was renewed and trees were planted along the roads. From 1880, the defense against fire was also significantly improved by purchasing a fire engine for the Negast-Wendorf syringe association.
From 1898 to 1899 the Heilgeisthospital took legal action against the community leader Gustav Raetz in Wendorf because of an unfulfilled obligation to contribute to the construction costs of the rectory in Voigdehagen. This did not only affect Wendorf, the Voigdehäger were also not prepared to contribute to the costs of the rectory.
Until the end of the Second World War, the Wendorf, Voigdehagen and Zitterpenningshagen goods were leased repeatedly. Numerous lands here belonged to the Heilgeisthospital. After 1945, as part of the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone, numerous lands were expropriated and later given to the GDR's agricultural production cooperatives, which managed the lands.
The community was part of the Franzburg-Barth district until 1952 and then belonged to the Stralsund district in the Rostock district until 1994 . Wendorf and Groß Lüdershagen have been part of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since 1990. From 1994 Wendorf belonged to the district of North Western Pomerania and since the district reform of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2011 to the district of Western Pomerania-Rügen .
- Groß Lüdershagen: The estate belonged to the von Braun families (early 17th century), Alexander von Eskin (1652), the Stralsund city commandant Colonel Otto von Schulmann (until 1780) and Nikolaus von Baumann. The mansion was built in 1866.
- Neu Lüdershagen was an estate village, owned by the Counts of Klot-Trautvetter on Hohendorf since at least 1892 . The estate was relocated in 1932. The renovated manor house dates from the 19th century.
- Zitterpenningshagen was also a manor village, which still contains a manor house from the middle of the 19th century. A large manor park adjoins the manor house. There is also a boulder garden in Zitterpenningshagen , which was opened in 2006 and the heart of which is an 18-ton granite stone from the Scandinavian region. The Zitterpenningshagen manor house was also the seat of the Wendorf community between 1946 and 1957.

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag . The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the region of Western Pomerania .
