Groß Kordshagen is a municipality west of Stralsund in the Vorpommern-Rügen district . The municipality is administered by the office of Niepars with its seat in the municipality of Niepars .

Geography and traffic

Groß Kordshagen is located on the southern bank of the Grabow , part of the Barther Bodden . About eight kilometers west of the municipality is the city of Barth and about 18 kilometers east of the city of Stralsund .

The districts of Arbshagen, Groß Kordshagen and Flemendorf belong to the community.

The L 21 runs through all districts from Barth to Stralsund.

In the district of Flemendorf there is a harbor on the Grabow.

history

After belonging to the Principality of Rügen , Groß Kordshagen fell to the Duchy of Pomerania in 1326 .

After the Thirty Years' War until 1815, the area belonged to Swedish Pomerania and then to the Prussian province of Pomerania .

The community was then part of the Franzburg-Barth district until 1952 and then belonged to the Stralsund district in the Rostock district until 1994 . Groß Kordshagen has been part of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since 1990.

Coat of arms, flag, official seal

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag . The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the region of Western Pomerania . It shows an upright griffin with a raised tail and the inscription "GEMEINDE GROß KORDSHAGEN * LANDKREIS VORPOMMERN-RÜGEN".
