The St. Marien Church Flemendorf is a 14th century church building in Flemendorf in Western Pomerania .

history

The simple church was built around 1380 on a field stone base. She is a representative of the brick Gothic typical of this region . The 7/12 choir graduation is broad. The low church tower was added in the 19th century, with the stone basement from the 15th century; originally there was a half- timbered tower, the boarded tower tower that is still preserved today has stood since the 19th century. In 1935, the neo-Gothic ornaments were removed or covered.

Furnishing

Late Gothic wall paintings (Christophorus, carrying the cross) are partially preserved. The sacrament house , a crucifix , a relief of the Madonna and a figure of a saint date from the same period . The interior of the sacrament house in the tower hall was painted in a popular style in the 1930s.

In the baroque altarpiece is to see a late Gothic family image; it was created around 1515 in the vicinity of Albrecht Dürer and was originally intended for the Dominican Church in Nuremberg, from where it only came to Flemendorf in the 19th century. Anna herself is depicted, her three husbands and the husbands of her three daughters in the background; the other two daughters stand next to her and their children are playing at her feet. Above, God is enthroned over his Son and the Holy Spirit. In the foreground, the Heinlein family from Nuremberg is shown kneeling. The family had the picture made in memory of Apolonia Heinlein († 1513) (see Gerhard Weilandt, Burkard Kunkel, Die Kunkel in Flemendorf. A painting of the Dürer succession in Western Pomerania, in: Kunstchronik 64 (2011), pp. 435-440) . It was restored in 1935 and currently (as of 2010) needs another backup.

Other objects inside are wooden epitaphs (16th and 17th centuries), the altarpiece and the floating baroque baptismal angel (both 18th century), the pulpit , gallery and the pews (1853). The baptism angel was reconstructed in 2008, for which donations of 11,000 euros were collected.

organ

The one-manual organ was built in 1858 by Barnim Grüneberg . It is the second oldest cone shop organ in Western Pomerania. In 2003 it was completely restored.

Peal

For bells of the church are two bells . The older of the two was cast in 1777 by Gottlieb Metzger from Stralsund and is made of bronze , the second bell is made of steel and was manufactured in 1962. The steel bell has been shut down, the suspension of the bronze one is defective; the parish aims to repair at least the bronze bell.

local community

The parish has been part of the Stralsund Propstei in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany since 2012 . Before that she belonged to the Stralsund parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .
