Drechow is a municipality in the west of the Vorpommern-Rügen district, southeast of Ribnitz-Damgarten . Until 2004 the community was part of the Tribsees office ; today it belongs to the Recknitz-Trebeltal office due to a merger of offices .
Geography and traffic
Drechow is located about 30 kilometers southwest of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund and about five kilometers northeast of Tribsees . The federal motorway 20, which is located south of the municipality, can be reached via the Tribsees connection (about six kilometers). The eastern border of the municipality forms the Blinde Trebel , into which the Bek flows at Drechow. There are no larger lake or forest areas in the municipality.

history
Drechow was first mentioned in a document in 1250. At Drechow there is a Slavic rampart on the banks of the Blinden Trebel .
After belonging to the Principality of Rügen , Drechow fell to the Duchy of Pomerania in 1326 . After the Thirty Years War until 1815, the area belonged to Swedish Pomerania and then to the Prussian province of Pomerania . In 1701 the Drechow estate became the property of the von Gadow family . In 1945 the Rittmeister and Pastor Mogens von Gadow (* 1899) was expropriated as part of the land reform. Drechow was part of the Stralsund district until 1952 and then belonged to the Stralsund-Land district in the Rostock district until 1994 .
Krakow: The Krakow estate was owned by the von Krakevitz families in the 13th century and by Moltke from the 14th century . The single-storey, renovated manor house was built at the beginning of the 19th century.
Coat of arms, flag, official seal
The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag . The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the region of Western Pomerania . It shows an upright griffin with a raised tail and the inscription "GEMEINDE DRECHOW".
