Theodor Prüfer

Theodor Prüfer (born February 14, 1845 in Drechow , Stralsund district ; † May 6, 1901 in Berlin ) was a German architect and church builder .

Act

Theodor Prüfer was the son of Pastor Julius Albert Prüfer and grew up in the pastorate of the Wusterhusen Church in Wusterhusen .

In 1875 he founded his "Atelier for Church Construction and Furnishing" (also atelier for church art ) on Dessauer Strasse in Berlin . Between 1875 and 1900 he received several orders for renovations and new interior fittings (mostly with glass paintings) for village churches and left behind a larger oeuvre.

From 1876 he published the architecture magazine Archive for Church Architecture and Church Decoration in Berlin, and from the fourth year on Archive for Church Art . The magazine was last published in 1888.

In 1876 he published Der Todtentanz in the Marien Church in Berlin and the history and idea of ​​the Todtentanz pictures in general with a dedication to the doctors Hermann Klaatsch in Berlin and Schrader in Quedlinburg.
