The Church of the Holy. Great Martyr Dimitri ( Serbian Црква светог великомученика Димитрија Crkva svetog Dimitrija velikomučenika ) is a Serbian Orthodox church in Cvrtkovci , a village in the municipality Stanari near Doboj in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina .

Built from 1999 to 2009 church is a branch church of the parish Brestovo , the Dean's Office Derventa the eparchy of Zvornik-Tuzla of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Holy Great Martyr Dimitri consecrated.

location

The church is in the hamlet of Lukići in the village of Cvrtkovci, which has around 650 inhabitants. Not far from the church is the Serbian Orthodox cemetery in Cvrtkovci called Mrsavci .

history

As early as 1980, the now deceased Jovan Lukić donated the building land for the church. The construction of the church began in 1999. On November 8, 1999, the holiday ( Slava ) of the Holy Great Martyr Dimitri, the foundations of the church were inaugurated by the then bishop of the Zvornik-Tuzla Vasilije (Kačavenda) eparchy.

The pastors of the church were: Zoran B. Tutnjević, Brane and Koviljka Narić, Božo Gostimirović and Ratko M. Tutnjević.

On November 8, 2009, the church was solemnly consecrated by Bishop Vasilije (Kačavenda) . Hundreds of believers attended the event.

The siblings Boris and Marija Tutnjević became godparents of the church . Brane Narić and Koviljka Narić were the godfathers of the iconostasis .

The parish registers have been kept since 1980. The priest of the church is Cvijetin D. Mitrović.

architecture

The single-nave church is built in the Serbian-Byzantine style with an altar - apse in the east, a side arm on the south and north side and a church tower on the west side, including a church bell.

The dimensions of the church are 15 x 9 m. Only small bricks were used to build the church building. The church roof and the altar were covered with copper.

The facade of the church is kept simple in white, the church roof in a light orange brick tone. The black onion dome is striking. Entrances are on the west and south sides.

The interior of the church is not painted with Byzantine frescoes . The oak iconostasis was carved by Slobodan Božić from Striježevica . The icons were painted by Aleksandar Čereković from Sremska Kamenica in Serbia .
