The . Church of the Holy Great Martyr Stefan Decanski ( Serbian : Црква светог великомученика Стефана Дечанског / Crkva svetog Stefana velikomučenika Dečanskog) is a Serbian Orthodox Church in the Central Hungarian community Szigetcsép . The Serbian name of the place is Čip .

It belongs to the Buda Eparchy of the Serbian Orthodox Church. This includes all Serbian Orthodox church buildings in Hungary , the Czech Republic and Slovakia under Eparch Lukijan (Pantelić) based in Szentendre . The church, built in 1768, is dedicated to the Holy King Stefan Uroš III. Dedicated to Dečanski .

location

The church is in the eastern part of the village, which has around 2300 inhabitants. Next to the church is the Serbian Orthodox cemetery. Szigetcsép is located on the Danube island Csepel , south of the Hungarian capital Budapest . The village belongs to the Ráckeve small area in Pest county . There is also a Roman Catholic Church and a Calvinist Church in the village .

history

The single-nave church was built in 1768 in plait style and expanded to include the church tower in 1828. It has a valuable iconostasis with icons , the iconostasis was renovated in 1907. Inside the church there is a precious Mother of God throne, which is decorated with icons on canvas, from the 18th century. The Church of the Great Martyr Stefan Dečanski was last renovated in 2005.
