middle Ages

The church was first mentioned in 1276. Around 1400 the nave was enlarged to its present size. The two small late medieval windows in the west wall date from the pre-Reformation period .

Reformation and modern times

Kilchberg accepted the Reformation in 1529. In the years 1867/1868 the church was demolished, only the tower remained. The architect Paul Reber built today's building in a uniform neo-Gothic style. Much of the work was done in forced labor . The local merchant Rudolf Zwilchenbart, son of a Kilchberg pastor, paid 70% of the construction costs.

1887 a style that was in the church late Romanticism created organ installed. Organ builder was Carl Weigle . Between 1974 and 1976 the church was subjected to an archaeological study. In connection with this, it was also restored. The church was renovated in 2013/2014 and the organ was overhauled in 2014.

Tower and bells

Four bells hang in the tower, which was built in 1619 and is almost 35 meters high. They are tuned to the notes es, g, b and c. The three smaller ones were cast in 1868, while the largest was made in 1975.

The bells bear the following inscriptions:

  • es-bell: Peace be with you.
  • g-bell: three sisters connected to one sound, raise the chant, three sisters to invite them to some corridor.
  • b-bell: Old ore for new casting, revive old love, everything dies, but salvation that God has given us must remain.
