from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kirneck is a district of Lorch in the upper Remstal in the Ostalbkreis ( Baden-Württemberg ) with 428 inhabitants (as of 2016).

geography

Kirneck is located on the ridge above the Remstal south of Lorch and consists of the villages Oberkirneck in the east and Unterkirneck 'in the west, whose cores are around 800 meters apart. The federal road 297 Lorch – Göppingen runs in between . The 140 hectare golf course of the Hetzenhof Golf Club, opened in 1995, takes up a large part of Kirneck's area .

history

Oberkirneck was part of the furnishings of the Lorch Monastery from the start  and was therefore probably founded in the 11th century. Unterkirneck was mentioned in 1422 as "Hinderkurnegg". The "behind" probably refers to the fact that Oberkirneck could be reached directly from Lorch at that time, but not Unterkirneck.

In the 18th century, the parts of Oberkirneck east of Wäscherhofstrasse belonged to the Augsburg cathedral chapter . Unterkirneck belonged to the monastery offices of Lorch and Adelberg south of Marbachstraße and Badweg, and to the north of them secular lords, including Degenfeld .

At the beginning of the 19th century Ober- and Unterkirneck came under the administration of Lorch.

Until the beginning of the 2000s, the Lorcher special school was located  in Unterkirneck.
