Kirsten Schlegel-Matthies

Kirsten Schlegel-Matthies (* 1959 ) is a professor of household science at the University of Paderborn .

Life

Kirsten Schlegel-Matthies studied history , German language and literature , political science and pedagogy at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster from 1978 to 1984 for teaching at the secondary level. In 1991 she did her doctorate at the History Department of the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. Her habilitation took place in 1998 at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster in household science and household didactics.

Since 2002 she has been university professor for household science at the Institute for Nutrition, Consumption and Health at the University of Paderborn. Her current academic focus is on consumer and nutrition education as well as the training of teacher skills in the field of education for sustainable development. Furthermore, the focus of her scientific work lies in the area of ​​tension between consumer responsibility and consumer protection as well as in models of the ethics of a “good life”.
