Kishore Mahbubani

Kishore Mahbubani (born October 24, 1948 in Singapore ) is a political scientist and diplomat from Singapore.

Life

From 1971 to 2004 Mahbubani was in the service of the Singapore Foreign Ministry. Among other things, he was ambassador to Cambodia , Malaysia , the United States and the United Nations . He is currently Professor of Political Science at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore . In his books, which are also aimed at a wider audience, he advocates the thesis that the supremacy of the West is coming to an end and that the world will be dominated by Asia , especially China , in the future . The West should therefore stop trying to patronize Asian states with reference to democracy and human rights . In 1995 he received an honorary doctorate from Dalhousie University , and in 2019 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
