The Kita-karamete rock ( Japanese 北 か ら め て 岩 Kita-karamete-iwa , German 'Northern Hintertürelsen' ) is a rocky outcrop on the Prince Harald Coast in Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . On the east bank of the Riiser-Larsen Peninsula, it rises 17.5 km north of the Minami-karamete Rock .
The name was given in 1972 by the headquarters of Japanese Antarctic Research after exploring the area by Japanese researchers. The US Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred this designation in 1975 in a partial translation into English.
