The Riiser-Larsen Peninsula is a large peninsula of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It forms the western boundary of Lützow-Holm-Bucht and separates the Princess Ragnhild Coast from the Prince Harald Coast .
It is named after the Norwegian polar explorer and aviation pioneer Hjalmar Riiser-Larsen (1890-1965), who discovered it on February 21, 1931 while flying over the Antarctic with the ship Norvegia (1930-1931), financed by the Norwegian whaling entrepreneur Lars Christensen .
