Kiyoko Shimahara

Kiyoko Shimahara ( Japanese 嶋 原 清 子 , Shimahara Kiyoko ; born December 22, 1976 in today's Suō-Ōshima , Yamaguchi Prefecture ) is a former Japanese marathon runner .

In 2003 she set a course record at the Katsuta Marathon with 2:28:17. That same year she finished third in the Tokyo International Women's Marathon , and a year later she moved up by one place. In 2005 she set a personal best as second in the Hokkaidō Marathon with 2:26:14. In 2006 she finished third in the Osaka Women's Marathon and fifth in the Boston Marathon .

At the 2007 World Athletics Championships marathon in Osaka, she was sixth and won bronze in the team championship. In 2008 she won the Honolulu Marathon and in 2009 the Hokkaidō Marathon, where she increased her best to 2:25:10 and at the same time set a course record.

Kiyoko Shimahara is 1.54 m tall and weighs 43 kg. She is a graduate of Kokushikan University and has started for Second Wind AC since 2007 .
