The steam locomotive series kkStB 301 was a series of express trains with a tender of the kk Austrian State Railways (kkStB), which originally came from the Austrian Northwest Railway (ÖNWB).

In 1881 the nine machines of the series  Ic (No. 84-92) were delivered by the Wiener Neustädter Lokomotivfabrik . They were essentially the same as those of the Ib series . Based on the Saxon model, the wheel arches were broken.

In 1884 the StEG locomotive factory supplied eight of this type. They were designated as series  Id (No. 93-100). In contrast to the Ic series, the standing boilers were 100 mm longer and the heating pipes were correspondingly shorter.

Five machines (84, 97-100) belonged to the supplementary network and were later given the Langer type smoke consumer. The 100 also got a jacket chimney. All of these locomotives later came to Josefstadt (Jaroměř), while the others stayed in Vienna . No. 84 received a replacement boiler in 1898. Most recently, all Ic and Id were in use in Bohemia (Elbe Valley Railway).

252.008 in the NTM

After the nationalization in 1907 the series Ic got the designation 301.01-09 at the kkStB ; the series Id became 301.10-17 . After the First World War , all machines came to the ČSD . The 301.03 and 15 were retired in 1924, the others were classified as series 252.0 and retired between 1925 and 1931.

The 252.008 has been preserved and is now in the NTM .
