Klara Ivanovna Guseva

Klara Ivanovna Gussewa ( Russian Клара Ивановна Гусева , married Нестерова / Nesterowa ; born March 8, 1937 in Pitschersk, Tambov Oblast ; † May 12, 2019 in Moscow ) was a Russian speed skater.

She was the first ever gold medalist in speed skating over 1000 meters at the Olympic Games. She won the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley .

On May 12, 2019, she was hit by a car while crossing a street and succumbed to her injuries.
