Klaus-Peter Lesch
Klaus-Peter Lesch (born March 4, 1957 in Würzburg ) is a German psychiatrist and professor at the University of Würzburg .
education
Lesch attended the Roentgen-Gymnasium Würzburg and graduated from the Friedrich-Koenig-Gymnasium in Würzburg and studied medicine at the universities of Würzburg (Germany), Bern (Switzerland) and Cape Town (South Africa) from 1977 to 1983 . During his studies he became a member of the Corps Bavaria Würzburg . In 1984 he received his doctorate at the Department of Neurology at the University of Würzburg's Clinic, where he worked from 1985 to 1990 as an assistant doctor at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy .
Scientific career
From 1990 to 1992 he was a Fogarty Research Fellow in the Department of Neuropharmacology under the direction of Dennis L. Murphy at the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, Maryland / USA.
From 1993 to 1995 he was senior physician and working group leader at the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the University of Würzburg. After completing his habilitation, he held a Hermann and Lilly Schilling endowed professorship for clinical neurosciences in Würzburg from 1995 to 2000 .
Full professorship
Klaus-Peter Lesch has been a full professor of psychiatry and psychotherapy at the Department of Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy at the University of Würzburg since 2001 and has headed a clinical research group for research into attention deficit / hyperactivity syndrome since 2004. Since 2010 he has also been a professor at the Institute for Translational Neurosciences at the School for Mental Health and Neurosciences (MHENS) at Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
In Würzburg, Lesch has held the chair for molecular psychiatry since 2010 and is director of the laboratory for translational neurosciences.
At the University of Tartu in Estonia, Lesch has been a visiting professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Education since 2011.
