Klaus Böttger (born July 15, 1942 in Dresden , † November 25, 1992 in Wiesbaden ) was a German graphic artist.

After his birth in Dresden, Klaus Böttger and his family came to Wiesbaden via Berlin and Aachen . There he received his Abitur in 1963 and studied art history , art education , philosophy and biology in nearby Mainz until 1969 .

He has been working in the field of printmaking since 1964. This is how numerous etchings were created. While he often dealt with the Vietnam War in his first works, he later changed his motifs under the influence of Pop Art and Fantastic Realism . Above all, finely crafted portraits and erotic nudes dominated his later work. There were also landscapes. He often worked in thematic cycles, for example he created the portraits of 14 composers in the series "Weltsprache Musik ".

Due to a close relationship with the book guild , many of his etchings appeared in their graphic edition. He also illustrated books. The dust jacket of the Book Guild edition by Umberto Ecos The name of the rose comes from him. He always showed his latest work in the basement gallery of the Wiesbaden Book Guild. His fourth and final catalog raisonné listed almost 500 exhibitions and participation in exhibitions around the world.

Böttger died in Wiesbaden in 1992 at the age of 50.
