Klaus Baard Baess (born November 10, 1924 in Frederiksberg ; † September 16, 2018 ) was a Danish sailor .

successes

Klaus Baess, who sailed for the Kongelig Dansk Yacht Club from 1943 , took part in the dragon boat class at the 1948 Olympic Games in London . He was next to Ole Berntsen crew member of the Snap , the skipper of which was his brother William Berntsen . In a total of seven races, the Snap always placed among the best five boats and finished the regatta taking place in Torquay in third place with 4223 total points, giving Baess and the Berntsen brothers the bronze medal behind the Pan by Thor Thorvaldsen from Norway and the Slaghoken received from Folke Bohlin from Sweden.

Baess also worked as a yacht designer in his home country of Denmark. His brother-in-law was the Canadian rower and Olympic champion Lorne Loomer .
