Klaus Bierstedt

Klaus Dieter Bierstedt (born May 4, 1945 ; † May 23, 2009 ) was a German mathematician who mainly worked in the field of functional analysis .

Bierstedt studied 1964-1969 mathematics (and, according to the pre-degree and physics ) at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . After receiving his doctorate from Bernhard Gramsch in 1971 ( weighted spaces of continuous vector-valued functions and the injective tensor product ), he moved to the University of Kaiserslautern , where he completed his habilitation in 1974 . In the same year he was appointed professor at the young University of Paderborn and was significantly involved in the development of Paderborn mathematics. From 1980 to 1981 he was dean of what was then Faculty 17 ( computer science and mathematics).

Bierstedt was a member of the Presidium of the German Mathematicians Association and its representative at the Fachinformationszentrum Karlsruhe for several years .
