Klaus Elwardt (born December 7, 1955 ) is a former German handball player . He was the managing director of THW Kiel .

Klaus Elwardt, wearing jersey number 13, mostly played in the right backcourt . In his youth he started with TSV Bordesholm in his hometown Bordesholm with handball. In 1975 he went to the THW Kiel. For the THW Kiel he played a total of 171 Bundesliga appearances in nine years, in which he scored 366 goals. For the national team Elwardt completed an A international match. In 1984 he played his farewell game with Holger Oertel at THW Kiel and moved to Bramstedter TS . At the end of his career he went back to his hometown club Bordesholm.

From 2009 to 2011 Elwardt was a member of the supervisory board of THW Kiel, and from June 20, 2011 to June 30, 2014 he was the association's managing director. As a manager, his club became German champions, cup winners, Supercup winners and won the Champions League in 2012 . He is also a member of the executive committee of the Handball Bundesliga .

Elwardt is a self-employed master carpenter in Bordesholm. His daughter Ina-Lena also played handball in the Bundesliga at Buxtehuder SV .
