The Klaus Faber AG (proper spelling faber , formerly Faber cable ) is a German distributor of cables and wires, based in Saarbrücken and logistics sites in Hedemünden and Fichtenau .

history

Klaus Faber (1924–2018) and his wife founded the company in 1950 at the current headquarters in Saarbrücken. The specialization in cables and wires took place in 1970.

The first warehouse was opened in Riegelsberg as early as 1973 . Another warehouse was later set up in Beelen . In 1990, after eight months of construction and an investment of around 6.5 million D-Marks, the Fichtenau warehouse was inaugurated. In 1992 a second location was established in Hedemünden.

In 1995 certification according to ISO 9002 (today ISO 9001) took place . In the years that followed, the company developed the 'FABER direct' customer connection system, which was presented at the Hanover Fair in 1998 .

In 2000 the company celebrated its 50th anniversary. In the same year, the corporate form was converted into a stock corporation. Six years later, sales exceeded 300 million euros for the first time.

On April 26, 2007 the foundation stone was laid for the expansion of the Fichtenau site into a logistics center. A total of 12 million euros went into the construction of one of the most modern service centers in the European cable industry. a. into the construction of an automated high-tech high-bay warehouse. In 2008 the inauguration took place.

In January 2013, the company took 481th place in the ranking of the 500 largest family businesses in the Wirtschaftsblatt magazine .

The Klaus Faber Foundation was established in 2014. The purpose of the foundation is to secure, develop and continue the Faber group of companies. On the one hand, this foundation is intended to secure jobs within Klaus Faber AG and, on the other hand, to promote science and research as well as projects in applied medicine.

After the expansion of the Hedemünden location, the new empty drum handling system went into operation in 2014.
