Klaus Filbry

Klaus Filbry (born January 9, 1967 in Münster ) is a German football official and sports economist . Since November 2012 he has been Chairman of the Management Board, Managing Director Marketing and Management and Acting Managing Director Finance at Werder Bremen GmbH & Co. KGaA . Since then he has appeared in public as the club boss. Before that, he had already worked for Werder for three years as Managing Director Marketing, Management and Finance.

biography

Klaus Filbry attended the Wolbeck high school in Münster . After graduating from high school, he completed a degree in business administration in the United States and Great Britain , from which he graduated from the University of Bristol with a Master of Business Administration degree. In 1994 he began a 15-year career in the management of the sporting goods manufacturer Adidas as an assistant to the management. From 1995 to 1997 he headed the basketball division , after which he was responsible for the European market as product manager. After four years as head of the individual sports department, Filbry moved to North America in 2004Department of Adidas and rose to Vice President of Adidas Football Marketing in 2008.

On January 1, 2010 Filbry switched to the management of Werder Bremen and replaced Manfred Müller there.

In addition to studying and working, Filbry was a footballer himself for many years. So he ran in England for Wigan Athletic in the third division and laced his football boots for the amateurs of 1. FC Nürnberg and for Jahn Forchheim . In his youth he played in Münster-Wolbeck for VfL Wolbeck , whose jersey he wore when he was named best player in the city championship in 1990.
