Klaus Fröhlich (physicist)
Klaus Fröhlich (born June 12, 1937 in Großbreitenbach ; † September 5, 2014 in Vienna ) was a German physicist .
Life
After studying in Leipzig, he received his doctorate in 1968 with a thesis on the development and testing of a tritium apparatus and the application of the tritium method to investigate the origin of pit water from an iron ore mine at the Freiberg Mining Academy. In 1973 he completed his habilitation with a thesis (then dissertation B) investigating the radionuclides generated by cosmic rays and their application in geoscientific research and practice, also at the Freiberg Mining Academy.
Until 1986 he was professor of physics at the Bergakademie Freiberg . From 1986 to 1997 he worked for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna .
From 1985 to 1993 he was a member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig .
His work focused on the areas of environmental research , isotopes , hydrology and hydrogeology .
