Klaus Friedrich (politician)

Klaus Friedrich (* 4. August 1960 in Korbach ) is a German non-party politician and since 2001 the mayor of the city of Korbach.

Life

After graduating from high school , Friedrich studied and became a civil and industrial engineer. He worked in this profession for five years in the private sector before he became operations manager of the municipal utilities and managing director of the Bad Arolser municipal operations.

On September 3, 2000, Friedrich was elected mayor of Korbach with 52.8% of the valid votes. He was re-elected on September 3, 2006 and September 23, 2012, receiving 71.2% and 69.2% of the valid votes, respectively. From 2006 to 2010 Friedrich belonged to the CDU - faction in the council of the district Waldeck-Frankenberg at.

Furthermore, in 2009 he ran for the office of District Administrator of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district. After no candidate was able to achieve a majority in the election on July 5, he was defeated on July 19 in a runoff election with 45.7% to the SPD candidate Reinhard Kubat . On October 28, 2018, Friedrich was confirmed in office as mayor of the district and Hanseatic city of Korbach with 86.0% of the valid votes.
