Klaus Shepherd

Klaus Hirte (born December 28, 1937 in Berlin ; † August 15, 2002 ) was a German opera singer ( baritone ).

Life

education

Klaus Hirte grew up in Calw , learned the trade of toolmaker and occasionally sang entertainment songs among friends. After doing his military service, he worked as a driver for a car company in Stuttgart. At the Musikhochschule Stuttgart he had his voice trained by Hans Hager and was engaged as a beginner at the Stuttgart State Opera in 1964 , where he has had great success since then.

Career as an opera singer

In 1971 he sang Beckmesser in Richard Wagner's opera Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the State Theater in Nuremberg , which would become his star role in the future. He also took on this role at the Munich State Opera , in Stuttgart , at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf and from 1973 to 1975 at the Bayreuth Festival .
