Klaus Hofmann (politician)

Klaus Hofmann (born April 18, 1940 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and entrepreneur. From 1993 to 2000 he was a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

Hofmann was born as the son of the medical officer Kurt Hofmann from Jennersdorf and after the elementary school in Jennersdorf attended the Bundesrealgymnasium in Mattersburg , where he passed the Matura in 1958. He then studied medicine at the University of Vienna , but broke off his studies and worked as a textile cleaner in a laundry. In 1967 he acquired a trade license and in 1977 became the sole owner of the laundry.

In the political field, Hofmann was active as district chairman of the Junge Wirtschaft in the Mattersburg district between 1973 and 1983 and was a specialist representative from 1973 and chairman of the chemical cleaners, washers and dyers of Burgenland in the Chamber of Commerce from 1975 . In 1982, Hofmann became a member of the Chamber of Commerce for the Commercial Section, and between 1985 and 1990 he was Deputy Section Chairman and, from 1985, Deputy Federal Guild Master. Furthermore, he acted as district chairman of the Chamber of Commerce in Mattersburg and was district chairman of the economic association and the regional group chairman's deputy. Hofmann represented the ÖVP from April 22, 1993 to December 28, 2000 in the Burgenland Landtag.
