Klaus Hoppe (born October 4, 1950 ) is a former German football player. In the 1970s and 1980s he played second division football in Wernigerode .

Athletic career

At the age of ten, Klaus Hoppe began his football career with the company sports association (BSG) Motor Wernigerode . In 1971 he moved to local rivals BSG unit Wernigerode . This rose in 1975 to the second-rate GDR league , with significant participation of the now 25-year-old Hoppe, who, as the top scorer of the team and the district league, contributed 28 goals to the promotion.

In the first three GDR league seasons Hoppe played mainly in midfield, missing only one point game and was still successful as a goalscorer. In the 1976/77 season he was again top scorer of the BSG with twelve goals, together with the former national player Hans-Bert Matoul . For the season 1978/79 he was appointed team captain and was now mainly used as a striker. Due to injury he was only able to play the 13 league games in the row. In 1980, the BSG unit had to relegate from the GDR league, but immediately rose again with Hoppe. After Hoppe had played all 22 league games again in the 1981/82 league season and contributed to staying up with five goals, the end of his active career was announced. Nevertheless, he helped out in the second half of the 1982/83 season for the last time in eight of the nine games, but did not score any more. So he had come in his seven GDR league seasons on 123 league stakes and had scored 35 goals.

Klaus Hoppe later became a junior coach at various Wernigerode sports clubs. As a player in the over-60 team of Germania Wernigerode , he became regional champion of Saxony-Anhalt in 2013 and 2014 .
