Red reporter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rote Reporter is one of the oldest local alternative newspapers in Germany. It was founded in 1970 and appears today in both a print and an online edition in Wülfrath ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

history

The Rote Reporter was founded by the journalist couple Doris and Klaus H. Jann in May 1970. Both were unemployed after they had joined the DKP and had been dismissed by their employer, the Neue Ruhr Zeitung NRZ. The task of the small local newspaper should be "to provide critical information about topics that nobody else dares to write about". The name goes back to the Agitprop group around Pelle Igel .

In 2007 the Rote Reporter was awarded the alternative media prize in the press category. An online edition and a blog have now been added: Klaus his diary .

Network of Red Reporters

Klaus H. Jann - he died after a long illness at the age of 75 in October 2015 - was a long-time Wülfrath city councilor and founding member of the BAG Rote Reporter /innen , a nationwide association of the party Die Linke , whose name was deliberately based on the name of the Wülfrath alternative newspaper. More than 530 left-wing media makers are now organized there. Klaus H. Jann was a member of the federal board.

Once a year the Linke Medienakademie takes place in Berlin, which serves for further training and the formation of networks. Jann regularly passed on his experience as a left newspaper maker. In 2007 he started an encouragement tour to support left-wing media in North Rhine-Westphalia . On September 20, 2008, a state working group of the working group was founded in Dortmund. At the founding meeting, Klaus H. Jann and Almuth Wessel from Gütersloh were elected as speakers.
