Klaus Kremer (born November 22, 1927 in Düngenheim ; † November 18, 2007 ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian and cultural philosopher .

Life

From May 1, 1965 until his retirement on October 1, 1993, he held the chair for Philosophy I at the Trier Theological Faculty . As rector of the faculty from 1971 to 1975 in the founding years of the University of Trier, he participated in the cooperative relationships. The appointment as honorary professor at the university also meant public recognition of these efforts. As a philosopher within a theological faculty, he founded the working group of representatives for philosophy within the course of Catholic theology , which he headed from 1976 to 1982 as chairman.

He tried to develop the philosophical-theological work of Nikolaus von Kues - especially as one of the directors of the Cusanus Institute. As chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Cusanus Society, he designed and directed a total of seven international Cusanus symposia. He was also an excellent expert on Neoplatonism . In the early years of his teaching activity he was also active as a pastor, first in St. Helena (Trier) , then since 1983 in Meckel , where he is also buried.
