Klaus Luger (born November 8, 1960 in Linz ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and acting mayor of the state capital Linz.

Life

Luger has a sister and comes from a social democratic family. After graduating from the Georg-von-Peuerbach-Gymnasium in 1979, he studied history and journalism at the University of Salzburg and social sciences at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz .

Luger has twin sons from a previous marriage and has been married for the second time since May 2015. According to his own statement, his hobbies are reading, cooking and football (a declared fan of FC Blau-Weiß Linz ).

During his studies Luger was a member of the KSV and from 1990 to 2000 chairman of the SPÖ party section Karlhof in Linz- Urfahr . Since 2003 he has held various management positions in companies belonging to the municipal group. Between 2003 and 2009, Luger was the city councilor responsible for spatial planning , building law and personnel. On November 7, 2013, Luger was elected mayor of the city of Linz by the municipal council. As a political motto, Luger pursues a "City of Life Linz", which, according to his vision, offers jobs, educational opportunities and social services. Since the end of 2013 he has been chairman of the supervisory boards of Linz AG and LIVA (Linzer Veranstaltungsgesellschaft mbH). Luger has been chairman of the Upper Austrian since March 2014. Controversy

Luger's contacts with a Turkish cultural association, which is said to belong to the right-wing extremist Turkish organization “ Gray Wolves ”, caused public criticism . Luger confirmed a nationalist orientation of the association, but he did not assume that it was a "fascist" organization.
