Klaus Oberleitner

Klaus Oberleitner (* 1967 in Steyr , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian music teacher , organist and choir director in Steyr.

Life

Musically rooted in his family, he was already playing the organ at church services at the age of 11. He received his first piano and music lessons from Gertrude Huttasch in Steyr. This was followed by studies at the Musikhochschule or Music University Vienna in the subjects of music education, organ (with Rudolf Scholz), piano (with Peter Barcaba) and jazz piano (with Heribert Kohlich). In addition to further lessons in figured bass and musical composition, constant engagement with improvisation in various styles. In 1996 he received the state teaching qualification test and in 2001 the first organ concert diploma. In 2010, Klaus Oberleitner celebrated his master's degree. Since 2011 further studies in the subject organ at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Heribert Metzger, in addition constant further education through master classes.

Remarks

Klaus Oberleitner was also very active in sports (figure skating medal in 1991 at the Austrian figure skating championships in ice dancing). This resulted in his intensive occupation with the connections between music and sport as well as the creation of music programs for other competitive athletes. Since 1993 he has been teaching organ, piano, jazz piano and electronic keyboard instruments at the Garsten State Music School. He is the permanent organist of the former Garsten collegiate church , plays in various chamber music ensembles and is always in demand as an accompanist for instrumentalists and singers.

The lively concert activity, especially as an organist, took him from Austria to many European countries. The collaboration with various orchestras and the numerous appearances as a jazz pianist in changing line-ups and as a conductor complete his overall musical picture with CD recordings.

Klaus Oberleiter has been the founder and director of the Camerata Garstina (choir and orchestra) since 2003. Until November 2013 he headed the Steyrer MGV Sängerlust .
