Klaus Pönitz
Klaus Pönitz (* 1940 in Dresden ; † around July 6, 2005 in Berlin ) was a German actor . The actor became known through the crime series Wolffs Revier .
Life
After studying engineering , Klaus Pönitz decided to pursue an acting career in 1963. Until 1969 he studied at the theater school in Leipzig . Pönitz was seen in the DEFA productions Der Rote Reiter (1969/70) and Sleeping Beauty .
From 1992 Pönitz became known to a wider audience through his role as Inspector Günter Sawatzki in the Sat.1 series Wolffs Revier . For this he received the Adolf Grimme Prize with bronze in 1993 together with Karl Heinz Willschrei , Jürgen Heinrich and Gerd Wameling . After 99 episodes, his role was written out of the series in 1999 and replaced by the younger commissioner Tom Borkmann ( Steven Merting ).
He died alone around July 6, 2005 in his apartment in Berlin-Schöneberg , and was found early that morning.
