Klaus Paier (musician)

Klaus Paier (born March 15, 1966 ) is an Austrian accordionist , bandoneonist and composer .

Life

Paier, who grew up in St. Andrä , played the accordion from the age of 7 and studied accordion, jazz and composition at the Conservatory in Klagenfurt . Especially instrumentalists like Keith Jarrett , Bill Evans , Charles Mingus or Thelonious Monk have inspired Paier. Under his own name and in a duo with the cellist Asja Valčić , he presented a number of albums from 1997, including a. with the labels PAO and ACT . He toured most of European countries as well as Egypt, Israel, Canada, Algeria, Vietnam and the United States.

Prizes and awards

As the first Austrian accordionist, Paier received the Silver Disc Award in Moscow in 2011 - a special award for accordionists and their exceptional achievements on this instrument.
