Klaus Peter Riedel

Klaus Peter Riedel (born July 27, 1954 in Erlangen ) is a German diplomat . He has been Ambassador to Slovenia since July 2016 .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1972, Klaus Peter Riedel began training as an industrial clerk. He then studied German, history and social studies from 1975 in Erlangen.

Riedel is married and has two children.

career

In 1982 Riedel began training as an attaché in the Foreign Office and worked there from 1985 to 1987 in the cultural department. From 1987 to 1989 he worked at the embassy in Yaoundé ( Cameroon ). From 1989 to 1992 he was in the economic department of the Foreign Office, then from 1992 to 1995 at the embassy in Budapest . From 1995 to 1999 he was permanent representative at the embassy in Ljubljana .

From 1999 to 2011 Riedel worked in Berlin, until 2003 as Head of Controlling Staff at the Foreign Office, from 2003 to 2007 as Administrative Director of the Federal Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” and from 2007 onwards he was in charge of Real Estate Management abroad at the Foreign Office.

In 2011 he was sent to the Budapest Embassy as Permanent Representative, moved to the Dublin Embassy as Permanent Representative in 2015 and was appointed Ambassador to Ljubljana , Slovenia in July 2016 .
