Klaus Pohl (computer scientist)

Klaus Pohl (* 1960 as Klaus Mussgnug in Karlsruhe ) is a German computer scientist and university professor .

Life

Klaus Pohl studied computer science from 1984 to 1988 at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences and in 1989 information science at the University of Konstanz . Before his doctorate at RWTH Aachen University in 1995 and his habilitation in 1999 at RWTH Aachen University, he worked for several years as a software architect , software developer and consultant.

He is the director of paluno - The Ruhr Institute for Software Technology - and, as a full professor, heads the Software Systems Engineering working group at the Institute for Computer Science and Business Informatics (ICB) at the University of Duisburg-Essen . He is an adjunct professor at the University of Limerick, Ireland.

From 2005 to 2007 he was the founding scientific director of Lero (The Irish Software Engineering Research Center). His research interests lie in the areas of digital, networked systems, requirements analysis , service-based systems and software product lines.

Klaus Pohl is the author of several monographs as well as author, co-author and editor of over 250 peer-reviewed publications.

Klaus Pohl is a founding member of the IREB eV (International Requirements Engineering Boards). IREB is a non-profit organization and developer of the CPRE certification (Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering). More than 22,000 people in over 59 countries have already passed the CPRE Foundation Level.

He received several awards and was awarded a GI Fellow by the Gesellschaft für Informatik in 2014.
