Klaus Roth (politician)

Klaus Roth (born July 10, 1963 in Spiesen-Elversberg ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He was mayor of Homburg from 2008 to 2018 and a member of the Saarland state parliament from 2004 to 2008 .

education and profession

After attending the Langenäcker elementary school in Homburg-Erbach and the Johanneum grammar school in Homburg, Roth passed his Abitur in 1983. He then studied brewing in Weihenstephan (1983–1985) and biology at the University of Kaiserslautern (1985–1989).

He has been working as a freelancer and entrepreneur since 1989. Most recently he was managing director of the IT system house Intrakom GmbH in Homburg. He is an honorary member of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Homburg and the Biomedical Center.

politics

Roth was a member of the Junge Union from 1979 to 1998 . He has been a member of the CDU since 1983. He has been a board member of the CDU city association Homburg since 1995 and of the local association Homburg since 2002.

From 1992 to 2008 he was a member of the city council of Homburg, from 1994 to 2008 as parliamentary group chairman.

In September 2004 he was elected to the 13th state parliament of Saarland . There he was a member of the committee for submissions, the committee for labor, health and social affairs, the committee for economy, science and mine safety as well as a member of the inquiry committee on demographic change . Within the CDU parliamentary group he was responsible for the functions of economic and health policy spokesman until October 2008. On October 31, 2008, he resigned from his state parliament mandate.

From November 1st, 2008 to October 31st, 2018 he was Mayor of Homburg.
