Klaus Schmetjen

Klaus Schmetjen (born May 19, 1919 in Kutenholz ; † December 17, 1994 in Bremervörde ) was a German politician ( CDU ). He was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from the 5th to the 8th electoral term (May 20, 1963 to June 20, 1978) .

Life

After finishing school, Schmetjen did an agricultural apprenticeship. On September 1, 1938, he joined the NSDAP , ( membership number 6.947.340). In 1938 he was drafted into the labor service. Then Schmetjen was drafted into the Wehrmacht and took part in the Second World War as a soldier . In the years 1947 to 1960 he volunteered to build up the rural cavalry and rural youth .

From 1956 to 1991 Schmetjen was mayor of the Kutenholz community. In addition, he was a member of the district council of the Stade district during the same period . There he was for several years deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group and at times also second deputy district administrator . From 1972 to 1991 he was also a member of the Samtgemeinderat of the Samtgemeinde Fredenbeck , in its first electoral term as the Deputy Mayor of the Samtgemeinde .

Schmetjen was a member of the supervisory board of Überlandwerke Nord-Hannover (ÜNH), the supervisory board of Stader Saatzucht and the Lower Saxony cattle production association. Since 1950 Schmetjen was a member of the board of the Kreislandvolkes (see also German Farmers' Association ).

Schmetjen was among other things bearer of the Federal Cross of Merit and the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit .

Schmetjen had been married since 1947. He had three children with his wife Anna.
