Klaus Totzler

Klaus Totzler (born January 2, 1952 in Vienna ) is an Austrian music journalist, DJ and photographer who lives in Vienna to this day.

Organizational and curatorial activity

He also became known as the artistic director of the Vienna Songwriting Association (VSA) and thus of the Blue Bird Music Festival, which is organized by the VSA. Totzler is also curator of the CD series "Between The Lines".

In 2004 the Vienna Songwriting Association was founded. In addition to Klaus Totzler, the founding members are the musicians Eva Woska and Daniel Mölksmith and the journalist Jenny Blochberger.

The Blue Bird Festival was founded in 2005 by the Vienna Songwriting Association. Over three days, around twelve artists perform in front of around 1,500 people in the Porgy & Bess jazz club in Vienna . The musicians of the Indiefolk Club Festival come from home and abroad and mostly belong to genres such as indie folk, alternative country and singer-songwriter. Klaus Totzler is the festival's artistic director.

Work as a music journalist

From 1992 to 2017 Klaus Totzler worked as a journalist for the ORF - among other things for the programs “Audimax”, “Montevideo” and X-Large , from 1994 he worked in the TV culture department of the ORF, from 2003 as the head of " U-Musik" ". He has produced contributions for the programs Kulturmontag and Zeit im Bild . Totzler is also the designer of various documentaries, including for Hannes Rossacher (“Get Up Stand Up” - Pop and Politics), the ORF show Kunststücke (including about Nick Cave and John Lennon ) and for ORF III (including about Pink Floyd and the Blue Bird Festival ).
