Klaus Uwe Feichtinger (born November 18, 1970 in Graz ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and managing director. With a short break in 2016, he was a member of the Austrian National Council from the 2013 National Council election until October 22, 2019 .

education and profession

Feichtinger attended elementary school in Pischelsdorf in Styria between 1977 and 1981 and switched to the federal high school in Gleisdorf in 1981 . There he passed the Matura in 1989 . He then did his military service from 1989 to 1990. In 1990 Feichtinger began studying law at the University of Graz , which he completed in 1995. Between 1997 and 1999 he completed his doctorate in law at the University of Graz, where he obtained his doctorate in law in 1999.

Feichtinger worked between 1999 and 2003 as a member of parliament for Christian Faul, Member of Parliament from Weiz, and then from 2003 to 2012 as managing director of the non-profit service company of the Region Weiz GmbH. Feichtinger has been managing director of the non-profit settlement company ELIN GmbH since 2012, and since July 2013 he has also been the deputy chairman of the supervisory board of GWS Neunkirchen Kommunal Planungs-, Errichtungs- und Servicegesellschaft mbH

Politics and functions

Feichtinger is active in local politics, where he was initially active as a member of the municipal council in the municipality of Hirnsdorf between 2000 and 2004 . He then moved to Weiz, where he was elected a member of the local council in 2005. In 2008 he took over the function of a city councilor in Weiz, and in 2012 he was elected chairman of the SPÖ local council club.

Within the party, Feichtinger is active as a member of the SPÖ Weiz's district executive committee, he also acts as a member of the SPÖ Weiz's district party presidency and as deputy city party chairman and thus also as a member of the SPÖ Weiz's city party executive. In the Association of Social Democratic Academics, Intellectuals, Artists (BSA), he also acts as a member of the Weiz district board. Feichtinger is the auditor of Kinderfreunde Weiz, district chairman of Volkshilfe of the district association Weiz and deputy chairman of the social welfare association Weiz.

Feichtinger ran for the SPÖ in the 2013 National Council election , but initially received no mandate. However, after Sonja Steßl from the regional constituency of Eastern Styria was sworn in as State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Feichtinger took up her mandate.

Feichtinger was sworn in as a member of the National Council on December 17, 2013 and exercised this mandate until May 18, 2016. He was then briefly replaced by Sonja Steßl , who took up her mandate as a member of the National Council when she ended her role as State Secretary and was sworn in on May 19, 2016. In June 2016, Sonja Steßl's withdrawal from politics became known, with her national council mandate going back to Feichtinger on July 1, 2016, and Feichtinger was once again sworn in as a member of parliament. After the National Council election in 2019 , he resigned from the National Council.
