Christian Faul

Christian Faul (born June 14, 1949 in Graz ) is an Austrian politician ( Team Stronach , previously SPÖ ) and former principal school director. From 1999 until his resignation in 2010 he was a member of the National Council .

education and profession

Christian Faul attended elementary school in Sankt Ruprecht an der Raab between 1955 and 1959 and then graduated from the local secondary school. In 1963 he moved to the music-pedagogical secondary school, which he graduated from in 1968 with the Matura. From 1968 to 1970 he trained as a secondary school teacher at the Pedagogical Academy.

Faul worked as a secondary school teacher from 1970 and was principal school director in Weiz from 1984 to 2009 .

Political career

Faul began his political career as a member of the local council and city council of Weiz (1990 to 1992). From 1992 to 1999 he held the position of Vice Mayor of Weiz and has been district party chairman of the SPÖ Weiz since 2000. In addition, Faul has been the district chairman of the Social Democratic Teachers' Association of Austria (SLÖ) in the Weiz district since 1975 . From October 29, 1999, Faul was a member of the National Council. In the XIII. During the legislative period, Faul represented the SPÖ in the committees for agriculture and forestry, sports affairs, the Court of Auditors, tourism, education and national defense. He held a mandate from constituency 6E (Styria East).

Insult controversy

Christian Faul caused a sensation on May 19, 2009 when he insulted the BZÖ MP Gerald Grosz at the lectern of the National Council by saying: “For me, you are a crocodile in the zodiac sign: a big“ Papp'n ”and a small brain - I have to tell you that. ”Grosz also said during this period:“ You are exactly too small around the skull where the brain should be ”. The BZÖ thereupon expressed the assumption that Faul was under the influence of alcohol, whereupon he underwent a voluntary alcohol test, which showed 0.0 per mil.

resignation

At the so-called Mulbratlfest in Weiz at the end of August 2010, Faul is said to have insulted Gerald Grosz again. When a moderator wanted to announce this as another guest of honor, Faul is said to have interrupted the moderator with the words "This asshole is definitely not welcomed in Weiz". Likewise, a few days earlier, Faul is said to have attacked a photographer and a cameraman from the ATV broadcaster during a meeting of the National Council . After this attack, the Greens demanded an apology from the SP parliamentary club, while the BZÖ mandate Grosz asked for the MP to resign.

After a conversation between Faul and the Styrian SPÖ state chairman Franz Voves , his office announced on August 31, 2010 that Faul would resign from the National Council mandate. In addition, according to newspaper reports, anonymous complaints had been raised that Faul had beaten students as a teacher. Faul was replaced as cultural advisor in the local council by Oswin Donnerer.

Change to Stronach

In September 2012 Faul announced that he would leave the SPÖ and become involved in Frank Stronach's newly founded party , the Stronach team. He is a member of the state board in the Stronach team for Styria .
