Klaus Windeck

Klaus Otto Karl Windeck (born May 6, 1941 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) is a German entrepreneur . He was u. a. President of the Potsdam Chamber of Crafts and Board Member of the Central Association of German Crafts .

Live and act

Klaus Windeck was born the son of a master locksmith . After completing his apprenticeship as an art and building fitter in Potsdam-Babelsberg and further training as a master craftsman , he passed the master craftsman's examination to become a master locksmith in 1960 . He later studied production engineering in a distance learning course in Magdeburg and obtained an engineering degree in 1974 in the field of “technology in the metalworking industry”.

Windeck took over the family business Metallbau Windeck in Brandenburg in 1961 and developed the company at the turnaround within the scope of the possibilities at the time. As a master locksmith, he made windows and doors as well as facades. After reunification, he expanded the company together with his son Oliver Windeck.

From 1964 to 1989, Windeck was chairman of the board of the Metall Brandenburg purchasing and supply cooperative and, from 1980, head master of the guild for the professional group of metalworkers / blacksmiths in the state of Brandenburg. After the fall of the Wall he became President of the Potsdam Chamber of Crafts in 1990 and held this position until 2007. In this office, among other things, the training center in Götz was built for craft training in the West Brandenburg region.

From 1990 to 1993 he also represented the interests and development of the craft in the presidium of the Central Association of German Crafts and was re-elected in 1996 for a further period in the presidium.

politics

During the GDR era, Windeck was a member of the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany . In 2008 he ran for FDP in the municipal elections of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel .

engagement

Windeck was involved in local associations. He promoted social and artistic projects as well as commitment to the environment. He supported the Brandenburg Wredow School of Drawing , the “Sun Sails” gallery, the music school and the carnivalists as a member of the Senate of the Brandenburg Carnival Club . For many years he paid special attention to the Friends of the Krugpark Nature Conservation Center.
