Klaus Zeman (born July 21, 1955 in Linz , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian mechanical engineer and professor for mechatronics at the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU). He heads the Institute for Mechatronic Product Development and Manufacturing.

Career

After graduating from the Khevenhüller Gymnasium in Linz in 1973 , Klaus Zeman studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Vienna from 1973 to 1979 . His diploma thesis, which he wrote at the Institute for Mechanics under Heinz Parkus , is entitled "Flutter instability of a fluid-flow articulated pipe" .

In the following years, Klaus Zeman worked as a university assistant at the Institute of Mechanics under Hans Troger, until he received his doctorate in 1984 with the dissertation “Applications of branching theory and the concept of structural stability in mechanics” .

After completing his doctorate, Klaus Zeman switched to the private sector at VOEST-Alpine Industrieanlagenbau GmbH, where he worked on constructive and control engineering developments in rolling mill technology (especially in cold rolling technology ). In 1989 he took over the management of the technology rolling mill technology development department and in 1994 became deputy head of the rolling mill technology division .

In 1996 Klaus Zeman was appointed university professor in the Mechatronics Department at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz.

In addition, from 2001 to 2007 he headed the Computer Aided System Analysis and Design research department at the Linz Center of Competence in Mechatronics . Furthermore, since 2008 he has been area coordinator for the research area Process Modeling and Mechatronic Design in the COMET K2 project ACCM within the company Linz Center of Mechatronics GmbH (LCM), where he has also been a member of the supervisory board since 2013.
