Piano duo Kolodochka

Piano duo Kolodochka consists of the siblings Alexander Kolodochka (born March 27, 1984 in Moscow ) and Ekaterina Kolodochka (born August 4, 1980 in Moscow). Since 2006 you have been giving concerts in Europe as a four-handed piano duo on one or two grand pianos.

Career

Alexander and Ekaterina Kolodochka come from a Russian family of musicians. Her mother is the Russian soprano Galina Kolodochka, her father Alexander Kolodochka was a horn player with the State Orchestra of the Bolshoi Theater . At the age of six, the siblings attended the Chopin State Music School in Moscow. At the age of 12 Ekaterina made her debut there with the Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16 by Edvard Grieg . Both were musically supported by their mother.

The siblings won the Moscow Youth Music Prize in 1994 and were then accepted at the State Gnessin College. During her studies Ekaterina Kolodochka gave chamber music and solo concerts in the State Philharmonic in Moscow, among others. The siblings completed their musical training at Gnessin College in 2000 and 2001 with distinction, Alexander at the age of 17.

Then the two pianists went to Germany for further musical and artistic training. They studied with Michael Leuschner in Freiburg i. Br. And with Irina Edelstein in Frankfurt a. M. Ekaterina Kolodochka attended master classes with Mikhail Sergejewitsch Voskressensky , Irina Edelstein, Arbo Valdma and Pavel Gililov . Alexander Kolodochka took part in master classes with Woskressenski, Stanislav Pochekin, Felix Gottlieb, Irina Edelstein, Arnulf von Arnim, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Pavel Gililov. Both received their Bachelor of Music in Frankfurt a. M. in 2009. At the Cologne University of Music, they obtained their Master of Music in 2011 with the top grade in piano duo with Anthony Spiri. To further develop their music, the piano duo attends master classes with the duos Hans-Peter and Volker Stenzl and Genova & Dimitrov .

During her studies in Frankfurt, Ekaterina Kolodochka gave solo concerts in Basel, Strasbourg and Baden-Baden, among others. Alexander and Ekaterina have performed as a piano duo since 2006, in Germany a. a. in the Philharmonie Essen and in the Villa Hügel Essen, in the Robert-Schumann-Saal Düsseldorf, in the Funkhaus WDR Cologne, in the chamber music hall of the Berlin Philharmonic, in the Embassy of the West in Berlin, in the baroque church Lamspringe, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, in the Kurhaus Wiesbaden and in the Walhalla in Donaustauf. The duo also played in the Rudolfinum (Prague) and in Luxembourg.

The piano duo's repertoire includes works that are written for two pianos or played with four hands. These include classic double concerts that they play solo or with percussionists , choral works such as Carmina Burana , original film music ("Berlin. The Symphony of the Big City" and "Metropolis") as well as the CLASSIC meets JAZZ concerts with their interpretations of the West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein and the Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin .
