The Small Protestant Parish Church was a church and a monument in Frankenthal (Palatinate) . The building was inaugurated in 1712 and destroyed in a bomb attack in 1943.

history

The Lutheran congregation in the third capital of the Electoral Palatinate was established in 1686 after the Palatinate-Simmern spa line had expired . At first it was provided by the Gerolsheim priest. The church was built between 1706 and 1712 and consecrated on August 24, 1712. After the construction of the later Twelve Apostles Church , the church was no longer needed from 1823. The facility was auctioned.

With the growth of the industrial city towards the end of the 19th century, the St. Bartholomew's Church continued to be used as the Small Protestant Parish Church , while the other was called the Large Protestant Parish Church . The small parish church was furnished in a new Romanesque style. On September 23, 1943, the church was badly damaged in a bomb attack. Its ruins were torn down when the Dathenus House was being built.

description

The church was built in the Baroque style. The street side was divided into three parts. The portal was between two pairs of windows. The building had a mansard roof and a five-story tower on the west side with a high baroque dome with two lanterns from the period after 1756.
