features
Macroscopic features
The cap of the small-pore bolete is about 6-14 cm wide, quite irregular, arched in young mushrooms and later flattened. It is whitish-yellow to nut and olive brown in color. The surface is provided with a for Suillus coated typical in the dry state sticky skin, which forms a slimy film in humid conditions. The tubes are whitish to yellow. The long and angular pores of the mushroom are initially creamy-yellow, later yellow-green-olive-brown. The stem is 3–6 cm long, 2–3 cm wide and very short in relation to the hat. It is whitish or straw-colored and granular purple-red. The hard meat has a fruity smell and a sweet taste.
Microscopic features
The elliptical to spindle-shaped, apiculate and smooth-walled spores are colored yellow-ocher, 7.5–9.5 micrometers long and 3.5–3.8 μm wide.
Species delimitation
- Granule bolete ( Suillus granulatus ): It is distinguished by an orange-colored hat.
- Mediterranean boletus ( Suillus mediterraneensis ): The stem is granular brownish-white. The flesh is yellow.
- Ringless butter mushroom ( Suillus collinitus ): The hat is more yellow and the mycelium is pink.
ecology
The small-pored pine bolet forms mycorrhiza with pines ( pine , Aleppo pine , maritime pine ) and is one of the typical smeared boletus in the Mediterranean area , along with the ringless butter mushroom and the Mediterranean bolete . In Switzerland, the species is also under five noble pines ( Arve , strobe before).
Origin of name
The epithet is named after the Italian composer Vincenzo Bellini (1801–1835).
meaning
The small-pored pine bolet is edible. However, Winkler (2008) describes it as inedible.
