Klemkepark

The Klemkepark in Berlin-Reinickendorf is a wide and generous-looking parking space, which, however, appears self-contained. The green area is listed as a garden monument. The name goes back to Fritz Klemke , a victim of the Nazi movement.

history

The Reinickendorf District Office had the green area laid out in 1928/29 as part of the planned Pankow-Reinickendorf green corridor according to plans by the Berlin City Garden Director Erwin Barth , who had also planned the not far away green area at the Breitkopf Basin. The playground in Klemkepark will be renovated in 2020.

description

The green area is characterized by the southern entrance, which is shaped as a gate to the buildings of the Paddenpuhl settlement . There is a children's playground directly behind this gate. The floor plan of the facility creates entrance situations that were designed intensely for special emphasis. The green area consists of a large, central lawn for sunbathing, on which a path runs past dense forest trees and on the edges of which individual trees and groups of trees are distributed. The dense border vegetation, behind which there are multi-storey apartments, shields the complex from the streets. There is also a tennis court in a special-use area on the eastern part of the park.
