Kliima (German climate ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in southeast Estonia . It belongs to the rural parish of Võru in Võru county (until 2017 Orava rural parish in Põlva county ).
Population and location
The village has ten inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is on the railway line between the Estonian Tartu and the Russian Pechory . The distance to Pechory is 8.5 kilometers.
The village was first mentioned in 1684 under the name Klina .
railway station
The Kliima train station is about two kilometers east of the town center. It was inaugurated in 1931. The station building was probably built according to plans by the Estonian architect Leon Johanson (1897–1984), who designed numerous type projects for stations. In 1980 the Soviet railway authorities closed the station. A shop was later housed in it, which closed in the early 1990s. Today the building is in ruins.
Personalities
The most famous son of the place is the writer Leo Kunnas . He was born in Kliima in 1967.
